AlFaisalya Participation in 3th Meeting of the GAA

GCC Association for Autism held its thirteenth meeting in the State of Kuwait on Saturday, 30 ThoHija1432, corresponding to  26th of  November 2011, at Kuwait Autism Center headed by Dr. Samira Al Saad President of GCC Association and Vice President of Autism International Organization  and director of the Kuwait Center for Autism.  On behalf of the President of the Association  HRH Princess Fahda Bint Saud Bin Abdul Aziz, representative of the GCC Association for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia,Jeddah Center Autism was represented by Mrs. Fawzia Abdul Rahman Al Tassan, General -Director of the Faisaliah women's charity Association in Jeddah.
Here are some of the Member States activities in the meeting:
  • Release the website of the Gulf Autism Association on the internet.
  • Issue a joint poster to announce a message at World Autism Day on April 2, 2012.
  • The GCC Association for Autism produces a joint film about GCC Association and its goals.

It is worthy to mention that the GCC Association for Autism was founded in Kuwait on October 29, 2002 to serve the autistic in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and to set up a mechanism for cooperation between the sponsors of autism.
 
The most important objectives of the GCC Association for Autism:
 
  • Develop a mechanism for cooperation between the sponsors of autism in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and how to strengthen it.
  • Put an integrated database among all GCC including the number of people with autism from all injury levels and age groups, workers in this field, programs and other.
  • Publish a protocol version specialized in diagnosis. The Association will distribute it on the competent authorities and will train them.
  • Provide scientific awareness of books, scientific publications, brochures, computer disks and networks to inform the workers in this field on all developments in the field of special education.
  • Work on upgrading the scientific and professional level of the workers in the institutes and special education programs (autism and poor communication) through training courses, seminars , conferences, providing missions and other.
  • Raise awareness of the disability in the community and how to deal with patients and activating the role of print - audio-visual media.
  • Encourage scientific research in the field of autism and poor communication by sponsoring (medical, educational, and social researches).
  • Directing researchers towards scientific research that could help people with disability and to develop the used programs and methods.
  • Preparation and coordination in seminars, conferences and training courses.
  • Exchange of experience through organizing visits and inviting specialists.
  • Coordination in authoring and translating books to avoid publishing or translating the same version.
  • Coordination in Arabization the tests standards and to apply them.
  • Cooperation with different ministries and activate its role in providing various services for autism.
