The Sleysla Center is a return to the rich heritage of the Kingdom and a celebration of the intricate handicrafts and artistic pieces of the rich culture of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.  “Sleysla” is a shortened version of “Sleysla”, a type of stitching used in several of the Kingdom’s regions.  Established by the AlFaisalya Women’s Welfare Society, Sleysla aims to bring about and enhance the Saudi heritage and culture by supporting local handcraft industry made by Saudi women.

Sleysla products utilize intricate techniques in their product development such as embroidery, sewing, and ceramics, weaving and painting to create varied and warm pieces of art. Items like hand-painted Quran stands, brocaded Quran covers, dolls, and even woven handbags are hand-made using different techniques, including palm-fiber weaving a popular handicraft natural resource of the Kingdom.  Using local raw materials and providing training in different artisanal crafts, Sleysla helps women develop their artistic skills and opening job opportunities for them to help supplement their family income and be part of the development and growth supporting local Saudi art traditions.
