Gulf fourth Tournament for Autism

Under the slogan "Our strength in our unity" ,the  Gulf fourth tournament for  autism started this year in Saudi Arabia - Jeddah during the period of 1st-2nd  of May - 2011, corresponding to 27-28 JamadaAawall 1432 on the courts of gyms in Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal stadium in Jeddah.This event organizes by  Al-Faisalya  feminist Foundation in Jeddah (Jeddah Center for Autism), the Center of the mother of Prince Faisal bin Fahd for Autism in Riyadh, the Center of ( ShumuaAlamal) Candles hope for Special Education in the Eastern Province, and in collaboration with the General Presidency for Youth  "Saudi SportsFederationfor special needs" and the Organizing Committee of Sports for the Disabled in the General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).
This tournament event opens under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Sultan bin Fahd bin Abdulaziz Al Saud on Sunday 27th of jamadaAlawal 1432 corresponding to the 1st of May, 2011, at half past noon at the headquarters of green gym in Jeddah.
This tournament is one of the most important activities that the Gulf Autism Association seek toorganize periodically in order to achieve the following objectives:
  • Consolidate and strengthen fraternal relations between the autistic children in the GCC through fair competition.
  • To appear the Gulf talents among autistic children and to enhance their participation in international tournaments and to provide opportunities for students with autism to participate in sporting events and show their mental and physical abilities.
  • Community awareness to their cause and give them their rights of interest and appreciation.
     
There were 60 players participating in this tournament from all the Arab Gulf states according to the following:
  • Kuwait: 7 players (from 12 years to over 16 years old).
  • United Arab Emirates: 9 players (8 years to over 16 years old).
  • Bahrain: 7 players (8 years to over 16 years old).
  • Oman: 4 players (from 8 to 15 years).
  • Qatar: 7 players (8 years to over 16 years old).
  • Saudi Arabia:
Mecca and Medina: 8 players (8 years to over 16 years old)
Riyadh: 7 players (8 years to over 16 years old).
Eastern Region: 7 players (8 years to over 16 years old).

The games of this tournament were:
  • Basketball which includes: (scoring  on the tower).
  • Athletics which include: (40 meters running, jumping, push the sand, throw plastic balls, Altencin).
  • Football which includes: (scoring toward the goal, running with a ball 20 - 15 m distance).
  • Swimming which includes: (25-meter free swimming, 25-meter back swimming).
  • Cycling which includes: (cycling).
The opening program includes several showactivities for autistic students who are participating from all countries, with the participation of Alanjal Schools students in Jeddah and operetta concert .
